What is 4-sides galvanized steel strip?
There are 2 ways to produce galvanized steel strips:
Cutting them from a wide galvanized steel coil
The first method involves cutting a wide galvanized steel coil into strips, as shown in the picture. The galvanized steel coil with a width of 914mm, 1000mm, 1219mm, 1250mm, and 1500mm is cut into strips using specialized machines.
After being cut, the steel’s fracture surface is exposed without zinc coating. This results in the loss of its physical anti-corrosion properties, but it still retains its electrochemical anti-corrosion properties. Zinc and iron work together as a galvanic cell, where zinc acts as the anode and will be oxidized first.
4 sides galvanized steel strips
The second method involves cutting cold steel into strips and then dipping them into hot galvanizing pots. This process results in four-sided galvanized steel strips with superior anti-corrosion performance compared to the first method. Additionally, it allows for achieving higher levels of zinc coating on the galvanized steel strips.
